Why JobSparker

JobSparker is something that I have been thinking about for a couple years. At the time, I was working at a company that had just been bought out and they were going through a lot of changes. I was working crazy hours and applying to a couple jobs here and there, but by the time I made it home after another 12+ hour day, I just didn’t have it in me to take my job search seriously.

At the same time, I wished I had something that could spur me on, some goal I could set. I wasn’t the only one who was looking for a new opportunity. I knew so many people who wanted to move on to something else, but just couldn’t seem to focus on a job search. A lot of my friends were balancing other responsibilities on top of their jobs. It’s a challenge to have an effective search while you are also raising kids, have painful commutes or crazy work schedules.

I saw this need in the marketplace to create a tool that could help individuals get to that next step. Sure, there are a ton of resume tools out there, and lots of “what do I want to do with my life?” assessments. There are resources out there to help people with networking and interviewing, but this was something that was missing. The truth is, it’s the service that I wished I had.

I want JobSparker to "move the needle" and help busy people commit to finding that new opportunity. I want it to break through the self-doubts, distractions and exhaustion. I want to make it easier for individuals to track what they are doing and easily see what they can do better. I want to help people find opportunities that will have a positive impact on their lives.

Is this a lot to ask from a simple app? Yes, but my hope is that the app is just the beginning.
